When to plant begonias outside.
Always plant begonias outside in may month when no more frost or forecast. Water them regularly and also feed them weekly with a high potash fertilizers like tomato feed. In autumn season dig up tuberous begonias and store them in a cool frost free spot for winter.
How to keep begonias blooming.
Select a location which receiving more direct morning or evening sunlight than mid day sun. Early morning sunlight is much cooler with less intense rays. By keeping begonias out of the mid day direct sun then the plant have less stress and will produce more bloom.
How to take care of begonias in outdoor temperature.
Most of the begonias care similar requirements. They thrive in warm temperature and regular consistent moisture. However the roots will rot quickly when soil remain wet for long period of time. They prefer bright light but are not suited for intense direct sunlight.
How long begonia can last outside.
Begonias don't have long life span. Most of the begonias live 2 to 3 years even with good care. The tubers of tuberous begonias often last 4 to 5 years with good cares.
Begonias care in pots.
- Always put the plant on a regular water schedule.
- Begonias like morning full sun light or partial shade at list 6 hours of sunlight needed.
- Always provide plants houseplant fertilizer once in a month.
- Plant begonia in a pot that allow 2 inches of space all the way around the roots.
If begonia plants outside give begonia plants some water. If it is still damp or moist on the top half inch, then no need to water them.
