Cassia fistula come in deciduous or semi deciduous trees types with bright pink, red orange, white or yellow flowers. Specially yellow one is most common flower flower type and gives the tree most common name Amaltaj.

The tree has fast growth rate and it may take 10 years to flower. And also under favorable climatic conditions, it may flower in 5 years. It is and evergreen fast growing trees it may got 10 to 15m high. Its a fast growing medium size perennial tree.
